Why Install This?
Benefits
- Holds more torque than stock — essential if adding forced induction
- Prevents clutch slip under hard launches and high-power situations
Things to Know
- Performance clutches often have a stiffer pedal feel
- Professional installation recommended — requires specialty tools or expertise
What Does This Do?
A twin-disc clutch uses two friction discs instead of one, spreading the clamping force across more surface area. This allows it to hold 800+ lb-ft of torque while keeping each individual disc's engagement relatively smooth. Benefits: handles supercharged, turbocharged, and heavily modified builds. The twin-disc design actually reduces rotational inertia (lighter than a single heavy disc), so the engine revs faster between shifts. SFI-approved for competition. Trade-offs: twin disc clutches are significantly more expensive and louder than single-disc units. You'll hear a slight 'chatter' at low RPM, especially when cold — this is normal for multi-disc clutches but can be annoying in daily driving. The pedal effort is heavier than stock. Installation is the same as any clutch (transmission removal), so budget $500-800 for labor. This is overkill for a bolt-on car — it's for builds making 550+ wheel HP.
Fitment Notes
TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission ONLY. Will NOT fit 8HP70 automatic.
