Why Install This?
Benefits
- Incremental gains that stack well with other bolt-on mods
- Easiest exhaust upgrade — just the tips and muffler section
- Mainly changes the sound character without significant flow changes
- Easy bolt-on installation — most people can do this in their driveway with basic tools
What Does This Do?
Flowmaster's axle-back replaces just the rear mufflers and tips — the easiest exhaust mod you can do. The black coated stainless tips give a clean, aggressive look. Benefits: it's the cheapest way to make your Challenger sound like a muscle car. The Flowmaster chambered design gives that iconic deep, rumbling V8 tone. Installation takes about 30 minutes — unbolt the stock mufflers, slide these on, tighten the clamps. Trade-offs: axle-backs make less power than a full cat-back (5-8 HP at best) because the restrictive factory mid-pipe is still there. Flowmaster's chambered design will produce some drone at highway speeds. The black coating can fade or discolor over time from heat cycles. If you want the Flowmaster sound but can spend more, the Outlaw cat-back replaces the entire system for more power and a more complete sound change. This is a great starter mod — spend $300-400 to see if you like the Flowmaster tone before committing to a full system.
