Exhaust System →What You'll Need
Professional installation recommended. Requires a tune to avoid check engine lights (O2 sensor codes). May require mid-pipes and possibly new catalytic converters for emissions compliance. A lift is essential.

Why Install This?
Benefits
- Noticeable power improvement you'll feel in daily driving and pulls
- Headers are one of the best power-per-dollar exhaust upgrades
- Long tubes offer more power but are harder to install; shorty headers are easier but give less gain
Things to Know
- Long tube headers typically require a tune for best results
- May affect emissions compliance depending on your state
- Professional installation recommended — requires specialty tools or expertise
What Does This Do?
Headers replace the factory exhaust manifolds — the cast-iron pieces bolted directly to the engine heads. Long tube headers use individual, equal-length tubes per cylinder that merge into a collector. The equal-length design creates a 'scavenging' effect where each cylinder's exhaust pulse helps pull exhaust from the next cylinder. Benefits: significant power gains (25-35 HP with a tune), especially in the mid-range and top end where the engine breathes hardest. The stainless steel construction handles heat better than factory cast iron. Trade-offs: long tubes are one of the hardest bolt-ons to install — expect 8-16 hours even for experienced mechanics. You'll need O2 sensor extensions, and the headers may contact the steering shaft on some models (requiring clearancing). They WILL trigger check engine lights without a tune. They also make the exhaust significantly louder. Many states have strict emissions laws about removing factory catalytic converters — check your local regulations.
Required Supporting Parts
This header requires additional parts for safe installation. Installing without these can cause serious engine damage.
Long tube headers require matching aftermarket mid-pipes — factory mid-pipes will NOT bolt up because the collector flange sits in a different position. Shorty headers ARE compatible with factory mid-pipes. Check your header type before ordering.
A tune is strongly recommended with headers. Without it, the engine can't optimize fuel delivery for the improved exhaust flow, leaving significant power on the table.
Fitment Notes
Fits 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI. Requires O2 sensor extensions and mid-pipe adapters. May require steering shaft clearancing on some models.
Tune Required
This part requires an ECU tune to function correctly. Without a tune, the engine computer won't adjust for the new part, potentially causing poor performance, check engine lights, or engine damage.
Technical Details
Full-length stainless steel headers with merge collectors. Maximum exhaust flow for serious power builds. Includes gaskets and hardware.
Compatibility Conflicts
Both replace the factory exhaust manifolds. Long tubes (#146) offer more power but are harder to install. Shorties (#147) are easier but gain less power.
