Why Install This?

Benefits

  • More reliable combustion under high load and boost
  • Longer service life compared to stock plugs, especially with forced induction
  • Easy bolt-on installation — most people can do this in their driveway with basic tools

What Does This Do?

The HEMI engine uses a dual-plug design — two spark plugs per cylinder, 16 total. Each plug has its own ignition coil sitting on top of it (coil-on-plug design). MSD's Blaster coils deliver more voltage than stock, creating a hotter, more complete spark. Benefits: better combustion efficiency on modified engines (especially with larger-than-stock plug gaps or colder plugs), more consistent idle on cammed engines, and they handle the increased demands of boost well. The full 16-pack means you're upgrading the entire ignition system at once. Trade-offs: on a completely stock engine, you will NOT feel a difference — the factory coils are perfectly adequate. These become important when you've added a cam, headers, or forced induction where the combustion demands have changed. They're also a good preventive replacement if your car has 80,000+ miles on the original coils. At roughly $400-500 for all 16, it's not cheap but it's peace of mind for high-performance builds.

Fitment Notes

Fits 2011-2023 Challenger 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI (dual-plug).
