What Does This Do?
The BBK 85mm throttle body (part 1842) is the smaller sibling of the 90mm unit. It replaces the stock ~80mm throttle body with a CNC-ported opening for about 15% more airflow. Benefits: noticeable improvement in throttle response, easy bolt-on installation (30 minutes, 4 bolts), no tune required for basic gains (the ECU adapts), and it's one of the most affordable engine mods. Trade-offs: on its own, gains are modest (8-12 HP) because the rest of the intake tract is still stock. The real gains happen when paired with a cold air intake and a tune. If you're planning to go with the 90mm (BBK 1843), just buy that instead of stepping up incrementally. The 85mm is the right choice if you want a simple, affordable improvement without committing to a full intake overhaul.
