Why Install This?

Benefits

  • Easy bolt-on installation — most people can do this in their driveway with basic tools

What Does This Do?

A lower-temperature thermostat that opens at 180°F instead of the stock 203°F. This allows coolant to circulate to the radiator sooner, keeping the engine 15-25°F cooler under load. Benefits: reduces the risk of heat soak during track days, heavy traffic, or hot summer driving. Cooler engine temps mean denser intake air (slightly better combustion) and reduced stress on engine components. Essential for forced induction builds where underhood temps skyrocket. Easy bolt-on — about 1 hour with a coolant drain and fill. Trade-offs: the engine takes longer to reach operating temperature, which means slightly higher emissions and fuel consumption during warmup. In cold climates, the cabin heater may take longer to blow warm air. Your temperature gauge will read lower than normal — this is expected. On a stock naturally-aspirated engine that's not tracked or driven hard, you probably won't notice any benefit from this mod. It becomes important when combined with forced induction, an upgraded radiator, or regular track use. Don't install this expecting power gains — install it for thermal management.

Technical Details

180-degree thermostat opens sooner to keep engine temps lower. Reduces heat soak during spirited driving. Gains 5-8 HP from cooler intake charge.
