What Does This Do?

JLT's catch can uses a dual-valve design that separates the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) and CCV (crankcase vent) circuits. The baffled internals and sight gauge make it easy to monitor how much oil vapor is being captured. Benefits: prevents carbon buildup on intake valves that causes rough idle and power loss over time, the sight gauge lets you see when it needs draining (every 3,000-5,000 miles typically), and the dual-valve design provides more complete coverage than single-valve catch cans. JLT has been making catch cans for the HEMI platform for years — their fitment is excellent. Trade-offs: catch cans don't add any power — this is a preventive maintenance mod. You have to remember to drain it periodically (easy — just open the petcock valve). Some states consider catch can installation a modification that affects emissions components. The HEMI is port-injected, so carbon buildup is less of an issue than on direct-injected engines, but blow-by still gunks up the intake tract over time. Most worthwhile on supercharged builds where blow-by increases significantly.
