Why Install This?
Benefits
- Lower center of gravity improves cornering and reduces body roll
- Improved stance and appearance
- Moderate install — doable in a home garage with some mechanical experience
Things to Know
- May change ride quality — stiffer springs can be harsh on rough roads
What Does This Do?
H&R springs drop the car 1.4 inches in front and 1.3 inches in the rear — slightly more aggressive than the Eibach springs. Benefits: dramatically improved looks (less wheel gap = more aggressive stance), the progressive spring rate starts soft for small bumps and gets firmer for big hits, and H&R's German engineering means excellent ride quality for a lowered spring. The ride is firmer than stock but still comfortable for daily driving. Trade-offs: at 1.3-1.4 inches of drop, you'll need to be more careful with driveways and speed bumps than the 1-inch Eibach drop. The ride is noticeably firmer than stock — not harsh, but you'll feel more road texture. An alignment is mandatory after installation ($80-120). Your stock shocks will wear faster on lowered springs because they're operating outside their designed range — plan to replace them within 1-2 years (Bilstein B8s are the ideal match). If you want maximum drop without the ride harshness of Pedders, H&R is the sweet spot.

Coilovers include their own springs. Installing lowering springs with coilovers would mean double-springing, which is unsafe. Choose one approach: springs (budget) or coilovers (adjustable).
