What Does This Do?
Nitto's NT555 G2 is a strong competitor to the Michelin PS4S at a lower price point. The asymmetric tread pattern provides excellent dry grip and decent wet weather capability. Benefits: significantly better grip than factory all-season tires, the 3D interlocking sipes provide good water evacuation for a summer tire, good tread life (340 UTQG rating — should last 25,000+ miles), and the price is roughly 30% less than Michelin PS4S. Trade-offs: wet grip is good but not as confidence-inspiring as the Michelin PS4S. The sidewall isn't as stiff as the Michelin, so the car feels slightly less precise in fast direction changes. Noise levels are similar to the PS4S. Like all summer tires, do NOT use in snow or temperatures below 40°F. If budget matters and you want 90% of the PS4S experience, the Nitto is the smart choice. If you track the car and want the absolute best, pay the premium for the Michelins.
