What Does This Do?
The Pilot Sport 4S is widely considered the best ultra-high performance street tire money can buy. It uses two different rubber compounds — a softer one on the outside edge for cornering grip, and a harder one on the inside for stability and tread life. Benefits: dramatically better grip than the factory all-seasons (like going from sneakers to racing shoes), excellent wet weather performance for a performance tire, and surprisingly good tread life (25,000-30,000 miles is realistic). Trade-offs: they're expensive ($300+ per tire), they're louder than touring tires at highway speed, and they should NOT be used in snow (the compound hardens below 40°F and loses all grip). If you drive your Challenger year-round in a cold climate, keep a set of winter tires. These are the tire every performance driving instructor recommends.
