Tires are the only thing connecting your car to the road — they matter more than any other single mod for both grip and safety. Wider, stickier tires improve cornering, braking, and acceleration. Lighter wheels reduce 'unsprung weight' (weight not supported by the suspension), which improves handling, acceleration, and braking all at once. Wheel spacers can improve stance and stability.
Performance tires use softer rubber compounds and more aggressive tread patterns than all-season tires. The grip difference is dramatic — both in cornering and braking. They're the single biggest handling upgrade you can make. The trade-off is shorter tread life and reduced wet/cold performance.
