Drivetrain

The drivetrain is everything between the engine and the wheels — it's what takes the engine's power and puts it to the pavement. The transmission, clutch (or torque converter for automatics), driveshaft, and differential all play a role. Upgrading these components lets you handle more power, shift faster, and get better traction off the line.

Driveshafts

The driveshaft is the long spinning tube that carries power from the transmission to the rear axle. The stock two-piece steel shaft is heavy and has a carrier bearing that can develop vibration. A one-piece aluminum or carbon fiber driveshaft is lighter (reducing rotational mass for quicker acceleration) and eliminates the carrier bearing.
