Why Install This?
Benefits
- More reliable combustion under high load and boost
- Longer service life compared to stock plugs, especially with forced induction
- Easy bolt-on installation — most people can do this in their driveway with basic tools
What Does This Do?
Copper core plugs are the traditional choice and still the best option for certain situations. Copper conducts heat better than iridium or platinum, which means it dissipates combustion heat faster — critical in high-boost forced induction setups where cylinder temperatures are extreme. Benefits: excellent heat dissipation prevents pre-detonation (knock) in boosted engines, cheap enough to replace frequently (which you should — copper plugs last only 15,000-20,000 miles), and many professional tuners specifically request copper plugs for supercharged HEMI builds. Set of 16 covers the HEMI's dual-plug design. Trade-offs: short lifespan compared to iridium (15,000-20,000 miles vs 60,000+), which means more frequent maintenance. The larger electrode tip means a slightly less focused spark than iridium. For a stock or mildly modified engine, iridium plugs are the better all-around choice. Copper plugs make sense in two scenarios: high-boost forced induction builds where heat management is critical, and budget builds where you want to spend $30 on plugs every 15,000 miles instead of $70 on iridium every 60,000.
