Why Install This?
Benefits
- Stiffens the chassis to reduce flex during hard cornering
- Improves steering precision and front-end response
- Easy bolt-on installation — most people can do this in their driveway with basic tools
What Does This Do?
When you turn hard, the chassis flexes slightly — the strut towers want to twist relative to each other. A strut tower brace is a steel bar that connects both towers, triangulating the front structure for rigidity. Benefits: sharper turn-in response (the front end reacts more immediately to steering input), reduced flex means the alignment stays more consistent under load, and it's one of the cheapest handling mods available. Installation is dead simple — two bolts on each side, 15 minutes. Trade-offs: the handling improvement is subtle. On the street you'll barely notice it; on a track or autocross course the sharper turn-in is perceptible. Some owners feel it transmits more road noise into the cabin. The BMR brace is chromoly steel — lighter than cheap steel braces but heavier than aluminum options. If you're only doing one chassis stiffening mod, the front brace gives the most benefit because that's where all the steering forces are.
